Extension of submission deadline for 19th Chopin Competition

The organisers of the competition kindly inform that due to numerous requests from pianists, the deadline for submitting applications is extended to 12 January 2025. This change will not affect the timing of the announcement of the results of the Qualifications. The list of those admitted to the Competition Preliminary Round will be made public through an announcement on the Institute’s website posted by 5 March 2025.

    The Competition interpretations by Eric Lu released by Deutsche Grammophon

    ‘At the age of 27, Lu has the potential for a long and interesting career ahead of him, and he joins a roll call of illustrious past Chopin Competition winners, including Maurizio Pollini, Martha Argerich, Krystian Zimerman, Yulianna Avdeeva, Seong-Jin Cho and Bruce Liu’ (Presto Music).

    The Preliminaries to the 19th Chopin Competition have begun!

    Today, at 10 a.m., in the Chamber Music Hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic, a pianist from Japan began the Preliminaries for the 19th Chopin Competition with his recital. Until May 4, we will hear more than 160 pianists performing approximately 30-minute recitals, the program of which will include the etudes, nocturnes, scherzos and mazurkas of Fryderyk Chopin listed in the Rules of the event.
