Does the Institute reimburse participant's travel and accommodation costs during the Preliminary Round?
No, participants in the Preliminary Round bear the costs of accommodation and travel to Warsaw themselves.
When is the latest I can arrive and register at the Competition Office?
Participants of the Preliminary Round should arrive and register at the Competition Office at least two days before their performance.
An exception applies to participants who perform on 23 April who should report to the Office one day before their performance, on 22 April (21 April is Easter Monday - a public holiday in Poland and the Office will be closed).
Where is the Competition Office located?
During the Preliminary Round, the Competition Office will be located in the National Philharmonic Hall rear of the Chamber Hall, floor -1, entrance from Jasna 5, open from 23 April - 4 May from 8.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Will there be an opportunity to practise during the Preliminary Round?
The Institute will provide the opportunity to practise at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (address: Okólnik 2 Street). Each participant will be allowed to practise 4 hours exclusively 1 day before their performance during the time allocated by the Institute.
What will the piano selection look like?
Each participant will have 10 minutes to choose a Steinway & Sons or Yamaha piano. The instrument selection will take place the day before the performance at a time set by the Institute.
Can I make changes to my Preliminary Round programme?
Any changes to the Preliminary Round repertoire should be submitted in writing to the Competition Office at konkurs@nifc.pl no later than 31 March.
Whether participants will be given tickets for the Preliminary Round?
No, unfortunately tickets for the Preliminary Round have completely sold out, but there will be an opportunity to purchase tickets on the day of the performance at the Philharmonic Box Office.
