We know the names of 171 participants in the Preliminaries of the 19th Chopin Competition!

The Selection Committee, headed by Professor Wojciech Świtała, has selected 171 artists from 28 countries from a record number of 642 applications, who will meet in Warsaw for the Preliminaries from 23 April to 4 May 2025. Their names were published on 4 March 2025 on the official website of the 19th Chopin Competition. The most numerous groups are representatives of: China (more than 60 qualified participants), South Korea, Japan, Poland, Canada and Italy. During the Preliminaries, we will also hear representatives from countries as distant as Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
 
The Preliminaries for the 19th Chopin Competition will be held in the Chamber Hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic. The Jury of the Preliminaries, consisting of: Ludmil Angelov, Nikolai Demidenko, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Kevin Kenner, Marc Laforêt, Alberto Nosè, Piotr Paleczny, Ewa Pobłocka, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and Wojciech Świtała, will select around 80 pianists to perform at the Chopin Competition in October.

The 19th Chopin Competition will officially begin on 2nd October 2025 with the opening concert. Auditions in October will last three weeks. On 20 October, a new winner will be announced, who, like each of his predecessors, will have the chance to make piano history. A day later, there will be an awards gala and the first of three concerts by the winners.
 
The winner will receive €60,000 and a gold medal, the entire prize pool amounts to more than €240,000. In addition, the winners of the musical tournament will be invited to a world tour lasting several months. Details of the concerts will be published after the Preliminaries.

    The upcoming edition of the 53rd National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition will be held at the Warsaw Philharmonic, on February 1 - 9, 2025. The Competition Jury will include outstanding pianists and teachers: Prof. Katarzyna Popowa - Zydroń, Prof. Ewa Pobłocka, Prof. Janusz Olejniczak, Prof. Piotr Paleczny, Prof. Wojciech Świtała, Prof. Paweł Zawadzki and Paweł Wakarecy PhD.
