Born on 22 April 2005, he began piano studies at the age of five and was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the age of nine, under professor Xiangyu Mao. He is a Bachelor student at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, under professor Misha Namirovsky. Despite young age, he has won prizes at several international piano competitions, such as 1st prize in Shenzhen and 1st prize at the 15th Irmler Competition. He has performed with the Qingdao Philharmonic Orchestra and in venues such as Shenzhen Concert Hall, Bechstein Concert Hall and many others. Xiaoyu has received praise from world renowned masters, such as pianists Angela Hewitt, Matti Raekalio, Jorg Demus and Robert Shannon
