Born on 12 February 2002, he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and is currently continuing his education at The Juilliard School under the guidance of Robert McDonald. He is the first prize winner of the National Chopin Competition in Miami (2025), where he also received awards for the best performance of a mazurka and a sonata. He won second prize at the Midwest International Piano Competition (2014) and was a finalist at the Cleveland International Piano Competition (2015), where he received a special award for the best interpretation of a Bach composition. He has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra. He is a recipient of the Steinway Recording Project award, and participated in a concert tour that included a recital at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall.

William Yang is the 1st prize winner at the National Chopin Competition in Miami in 2025.
